About the Toolkit

Here at Heart Research UK, we have been working with teams of medical professionals, academics and patient groups over the past few years to create our 'Physical Activity Toolkit'. This Toolkit contains information on why being active is especially important for people with a heart condition, signs and symptoms to look out for, questions you should be asking your cardiologist and much more.

We've split the Toolkit into sections to make it as specific to you as possible. Here, you can access our resources specifically created for adults with a congenital heart condition. Specialist adult physiotherapist Louisa Nielsen, along with the ACHD team at Southampton Hospital, have helped us make sure we're giving you up to date and useful information on a variety of topics that they encounter everyday.

We would love to hear from you, so please fill out our feedback form or follow us on twitter - @CHDToolkit

The Physical Activity Toolkit for adult patients has been written by Louisa Nielsen, Cardiothoracic and Adult Congenital Heart Physiotherapy Specialist at Southampton General Hospital and Lucy Gowing, Heart Research UK Associate Research Fellow.

The scientific information was validated by Dr Graham Stuart MBChB, MSc, FRCP FRCPCH, Consultant Cardiologist Bristol Congenital Heart Unit and Professor Craig Williams BEd(Hons) MSc PhD, Director of the Children's Health & Exercise Research Centre, University of Exeter.
